There are a multitude of concrete floors, from types of screeds, concrete floors with/without a DPM, to existing levelling compounds that may have been added not to mention various floor coverings the floor may have been subjected to. No two floors are the same, but there is always a solution to prepare your existing floor to allow the correct installation to be achieved

Timber floors are also suitable to fit Victorian Tiles to, all that is required is that a suitable process is followed to ensure the life of the floor is maintained. Floor boards are generally covered in a cement tile backer board, which dependant on installation will be screwed down at 6" centres, and also if required will be covered in a levelling compound and or a suitable de-coupling matting

After establishing the type of concrete or timber substrate, it is generally covered in a Latex, or Levelling compound, in preparation for tiling, Where there is no signs of movement, this is generally all that is required, and after priming, the tiles will be fixed directly to the new levelled floor area.

With pathways, where drainage may be a factor, cement render boards will be used. this allows an even and flat surface to be achieved, even if there is a gradient, or drainage is needed.
Cement tile backer boards are suitable for indoor and external use, dependant on the installation, this would be covered in a de-coupling matt or levelling compound or both if needed.

Where necessary, a De-coupling matting, or anti-fracture matting will be used, this is usually fixed with flexible S1 or S2 adhesive, again dependant on the substrate. This safeguards against movement below the matting as adhesive will flex with any substrate movement, whilst the de-coupling matt above will ensure no movement is transferr
